还是有道理的。

一位负责培训的经理有过接触,他说未来十年由于人员退休造成的电力工程师短缺是他们面临的最大挑战之一,不知现在是否有所改观。
实际上电力系统还是有不少令人兴奋的领域。比如说大规模新能源如燃料电池、潮汐发电、地热发电、太阳能的开发与应用,现有电力系统中风电厂的系统接入、[FONT="]Smart[/FONT]
电网的应用、远程设备状态检测与诊断、电网动态分析与控制等。更前沿的纳米技术应用、电能储存技术、电动汽车、生物发电、超导或无线输电等。有一个加拿大大学正在研究一种新型涂料。这种涂料刷在墙面上后会形成无数光伏电池,其产生的总电能可以满足该建筑的用电需求。电力科技的发展是无止境的,而这些只能寄希望与年轻一代。

的说法并不十分准确。电力系统的绝大部分运行与热动工程师实际上没有关系,热动工程师只可能运行热电厂([FONT="]Thermal power plants[/FONT]
),不管是烧煤、烧天然气、垃圾、化工尾料抑或是核反应堆,烧木屑,沼气、甘蔗渣等,总之是有产生热的原料并有一定压力的设备。如果是风电、水电、潮汐发电等就不需要热动工程师。发电以后的输配电运行热动工程师就更沾不上边了。[FONT="]2[/FONT]

招收水电站培训生的广告,他们是从高中生中选拔和培养的。[FONT="]5[/FONT]

招收的电力输配电系统运行人员基本要求也是高中生,但是我估计一些受过社区学院电力课程的学生更有竞争力。这些运行人员没有加拿大统一的证书,只是需要满足各公司自己认可的培训和要求。
我曾经有机会参观过[FONT="]Hydro One 2005[/FONT]
年全面投运的位于[FONT="]Barrie[/FONT]
的安省电网控制中心。这是一个集电网运方、检修计划、调度、远方状态监控和设备诊断、数据采集等功能为一体的建筑,其中心控制室的规模和相关配套设施是任何石油公司和电厂控制室无法比拟的,猛看上去更象航天发射控制中心。你可以从以下链接获得一些大概印象:[FONT="]

类似这样的控制中心,各省都有,只是没这么新、现代。亚省由于电力改革,发、供电公司较多,相应的控制室也多,主要有负责输电系统的[FONT="]Altalink[/FONT]
在卡尔加里的控制中心,[FONT="]ATCO[/FONT]
在[FONT="]Vegreville[/FONT]
的系统控制中心等。
亚省电力改革后发、输、供全部分开,在卡尔加里新成立了一个省一级的竞价上网交易和电网运营公司[FONT="]AESO[/FONT]
([FONT="]Alberta Electrical System Operator[/FONT]
)。在安省,电力改革做到了发、输供分开,因此在多伦多也有类似的一个[FONT="]IESO (The Independent Electricity System Operator)[/FONT]
。以上两家的中心控制室我也曾参观过,很是气派漂亮。[FONT="]911[/FONT]
后这两个中心的位置都变成了保密的,而且一般人没有可能参观了。这里的电力系统运行值班员([FONT="]controller[/FONT]
)与热动没有任何关系。

- [FONT="]5 years related experience including a thorough knowledge of the distribution system. Experience as an Operator-In-Charge would be an asset.[/FONT]
- [FONT="]Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write in clear, concise terms.[/FONT]
- [FONT="]Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving skills, and the ability to think logically.[/FONT]
- [FONT="]Thorough knowledge of electrical principals, systems, switching procedures and Electrical Communication Utility Code (ECUC)[/FONT]
